Read the Constitution Mr. President
What are the powers granted to the Federal government? Read Article I, Section 8 for the powers of Congress. Note that this Section grants Congress the power to levy taxes to “Provide for the common Defense and general Welfare of the United States.” This section does not say provide for the Welfare of the People of the United States. It is specific that Congress should provide for the Welfare of the country.
This section also calls for Congress to promote the Progress of Science and the Arts. This support is limited to giving the Authors and Inventors the Exclusive Right to their Writings and Discoveries for “limited Times. The Constitution does not give the Congress the right to provide funding for either the Arts or Sciences.
Section 10 lays out what is prohibited to the States. These are; entering into any Treaty, Alliance, or Confederation; granting Letters of Marquee and Reprisal, coin money, emit Bills of Credit, make any Thing but gold and silver Coins a Tender in Payment of Debts, pass any Bill of Attainder, ex post facto Law, or Law impairing the Obligation of Contracts, or grant any Title of Nobility.
States also cannot, without the Consent of Congress lay any Imposts or Duties on Imports or Exports, except when ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY for executing its inspection Laws. Any of these imposts and duties are reserved of the Treasury of the United States.
President
Commander in Chief of the Navy and Army and of the Militia of the States when they are called into actual service of the United States.
Making treaties with the advice and consent of the Senate. Treaties require the consent of two-thirds of the Senate.
Nominate and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Councils, Judges of the Supreme Court and all other Officers of the United States whose appointments are not otherwise provided for.
NOTE: The Constitution DOES NOT give the President any domestic powers. Therefore it is a violation of the Constitution when the President and by default, his cabinet make any rules that are Domestic in Nature. I believe any rules made by any Cabinet Department except the Departments of Defense, Commerce, State and Homeland Security UNCONSTITUTIONAL.
A Proud Right Wing Extremist
Well, I guess this blog makes me a Right Wing extremist. After all, I believe in the US Constitution. I believe in the very clear wording of the 10th Amendment. The Department of Homeland Security has stated that that makes me a right wing extremist. I thought the Director of Homeland Security swore to defend the Constitution. I thought the President swore to defend the Constitution.
Not only do I believe in the 10th Amendment to the Constitution but I am also a military veteran. I oppose abortion. I participated in the Tea Party in Wheeling, WV. All of these things make me an extremist according to this Administration. It is time to throw the bums in Congress out of office. We need to change the party on Capital Hill then we need to impeach this President. If that makes me a rightwing Extremist, I will wear that badge proudly.

Wounded Vets Under Friendly Fire

Entitlements: President Obama once scolded John McCain over veterans’ benefits. Now the White House that condemns the AIG bonuses plans to charge wounded soldiers for the costs of treatment. Which is worse?

During last fall’s campaign, Obama tried to make war hero McCain appear insensitive to veterans for his opposition to a Democratic bill that would make expanded college education benefits available to veterans after a three-year enlistment.
McCain felt this would encourage service members to leave the military prematurely at a time when the military was stretched thin and fighting two wars. McCain preferred a sliding scale for education benefits that would increase them commensurate with length of service. He even went Obama one better: He proposed allowing veterans to transfer their benefits to family members.
Having milked the veterans’ benefits issue for votes, Obama apparently now sees our wounded veterans as a revenue stream for his bloated budget and stimulus proposals.
A furious Commander David K. Rehbein of the American Legion left a meeting with President Obama Monday “angered” that Obama plans to force private insurance companies to pay for the treatment of military veterans who have suffered service-connected disabilities and injuries.
“It became apparent during our discussion today that the president intends to move forward with this unreasonable plan,” Commander Rehbein said. “He says he is looking to generate $540 million by this method, but refused to hear arguments about the moral and government-avowed obligations that would be compromised by it.”
Rehbein added that this “reimbursement plan would be inconsistent with the mandate ‘to care for him who shall have borne the battle,’ given that the United States government sent members of the armed forces into harm’s way, and not private insurance companies.”
Should a soldier wounded in Afghanistan have to wonder if he or she is covered or worry about his or her deductible?
The story from the Obama administration is that it wants private insurers who sell coverage to vets to pay their fair share. But the only reason wounded vets can get these policies in the first place is that private insurers know service-related medical treatment is covered through the Veterans Administration.
If the U.S. reneges on its moral obligations for budgetary reasons, it will make it harder for future veterans to get private insurance. A statement by the American Legion pointed out that depending on the severity of the war injury, maximum insurance coverage limits could be reached through treatment of the veteran’s condition alone. The rest of the family would wind up with nothing.
Premiums would be increased to prohibitive levels, and many insurance companies would require a hefty deductible before any benefits are paid. Some employers might now be reluctant to hire wounded veterans because of the impact on their company health-care benefits.
“Depending on the severity of the medical conditions, those medical insurance policies with a calendar-year benefit maximum or a life-time benefit maximum could result in the rest of the family not receiving any health care benefits,” Legion legislative director Steve Robertson told the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee last week. “Many health insurance companies require deductibles to be paid before any benefits are covered.”
The VA now bills third-party insurers only for nonservice related injuries and illnesses such as the flu. If the injured vet requires prosthetics or ongoing therapy for a war injury, the VA picks up the tab. Obama would change all that.
A letter sent to the president on Feb. 27 signed by the leaders of 11 prominent veterans organizations rightly said: “There is simply no logical explanation for billing a veteran’s personal insurance for care the VA has a responsibility to provide. While we understand the fiscal difficulties this country faces right now, placing the burden of those fiscal problems on the men and women who have already sacrificed a great deal for this country is unconscionable.”
We agree. The AIG executives may be trying to get something for nothing, but the same can’t be said for our wounded veterans. They’ve kept us alive and free, and we owe them a debt of gratitude — not a debt for their care.

Israel blaimed fo defending themselves
The left is screaming that the recent actions by Israel are too harsh. They appear to believe that Israel picked this fight and are now being unfair. They forget that rockets were coming from Gaza on a daily basis; sometimes up to 80 a day. How would you react if someone were threatening your family? Would you take minimal action or would you try to insure that they could not injure those you love.
I will always remember something my late father was prone to say after one of my brothers or I lost a fight and cried that the other guy didn’t fight fair. He would tell us there is only one fair fight, the one you win. The only way Israel will ever have peace is assuring their Arab neighbors do not have the means to attract them. Don’t blame Israel for the Arabs bring a knife to a gunfight. Like the North Vietnam leaders, the Arabs are depending on the media to manipulate public opinion to win a victory they can not win with military actions.
Veterans Day
Why do retailers find it necessary to hold Veterans Day sales? Don’t they have enough reasons already for a sale? There are two days that should not be the subject of retail sales. These days are Memorial Day and Veterans Day. Memorial Day was started as a day to remember those Americans who gave the ultimate sacrifice, their lives, so this nation could remain free. It is time for this country to again take time to honor these brave men and women. It is they and not the politician who are the reason we remain free to do things like post in blogs.
The other day is Veterans Day. Today is a day to say thank you to the men and women who gave up their youth in service of this country. Not all of us served during times of conflict, but we all delayed starting our careers to serve our fellow men.
One of our local retailers did something I find commendable. As a way of thanking veterans they are giving a free ½ gal. Of ice cream to all veterans who stop in. They require no purchase. Why don’t more people do this?
Today I spent some time reflecting on my life. I realized that my birthday, January 26 will also be the 40th Anniversary of my return from Viet Nam. I was 21 years old. Believe me, I was not the same person who went to Nam. Even now, nearly 40 years latter I wake up in cold sweats screaming from the nightmares. They will never go away.
I am not asking for you to feel sorry for me. I don’t even expect you to say thank you to me. But please take the time to say thank you to the veterans in your life.
Memorial Day
Today is Memorial Day. I know it is now more a day to party and get the summer off to a fast start but it is my hope that people will spend at least a part of the day contemplating the sacrifice made by so many young American men and women to keep this nation free. I hope people will pause for a few minutes during their day to say a prayer of thanks for the many who can not be with s today. May GOD bless them and keep them in His loving care. To my fellow veterans thank you for your service.
MSM
Wouldn’t you say this looks like a true story?
A biker is riding by the zoo, when he sees a little girl leaning into
the lion’s cage. Suddenly, the lion grabs her by the cuff of her jacket
and tries to pull her inside to slaughter her, under the eyes of her
screaming parents. The biker jumps off his bike, runs to the cage and
hits the lion square on the nose with a powerful punch. Whimpering
from the pain the lion jumps back letting go of the girl, and the biker
brings her to her terrified parents, who thank him endlessly.
A reporter has seen the whole scene, and addressing the biker, says:
“Sir, this was the most gallant and brave thing I saw a man do in my
whole life.”
Why, it was nothing said the biker, really, the lion was behind bars.
I just saw this little kid in danger, and acted as I felt right.
I noticed a patch on your jacket said the journalist.
Yeah I ride with a Vietnam Veteran motorcycle club the biker replies.
Well, I’ll make sure this won’t go unnoticed. I’m a journalist, you
know, and tomorrow papers will have this in first page. The journalist
leaves.
The following morning the biker buys the paper to see if it indeed
brings news of his actions, and reads, on first page:
Vietnam Veteran Biker gang member assaults African immigrant and steals his lunch.
Random thoughts
NY officers NOT GUILTY
What would you do if someone tried to run you over with a car after hitting another? Police officer or not, one has a right to defend themselves. Of course this is far from over. Look for the feds to bring cival rights charges against at least the White Officer. How the courts can say this is not double jeopardy is beyond me, but they have. Of course the libs believe the Constitution says what they want it to say.
Support the troops
Isn’t it about time Congress starts to follow through with the talk? Why does the VA have to fight every year for adequate funding? It is way past time to move the VA Budget to the manditory side like Social Security and Welfare. Strange that these constitutionally questionable programs are manditory when providing for the Nations Defense in optional.
Bush Viloating the Constitution with war in Iraq
OK here is my challange to all the libs. Read the US Constitution and tell me what admendment the President is violating. Frankly, I am unable to find any. Let’s face it, Congress could cut funding and the war would end. Congress did give the President the authority. Even Hillary voted yes. The President was acting on intelligence that was available to Clinton and in fact Clinton had used in bombing the Aspirin factory to deflect attention from Monica.
